The holidays in December always prove to be my muse from year to year. There's something about the season- the combination of snow in the air, Christmas carols playing, and the buzz of holiday baking and family gatherings- that energizes my creativity.
I could listen to Christmas Carols for 12 months out of the year (but usually force myself to stop in January, and wait until September to start again). A snippet of "O Come All Ye Faithful" is adorned by some winter foliage here, complete with the venerable cardinal, a bird common to Ohio in the winter. The piece was inspired by a winter-themed stamp I received on a Christmas card.
The above two pieces intertwine wintery flourishes with inspiring verses from "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing," another of my favorite Christmas Carols.
Drawing inspiration from the cover of the ESV Illuminated Bible, this illustrated greeting features twining holly surrounding cheerful poinsettias.
These four fun patterns use more Christmas Carol lyrics surrounded by sparkling snowflakes and were meant to explore potential wrapping paper designs.
The Reason for the Season is central to this Christmas-Day greeting,

Christmas Carols once again provided the main inspiration for this piece, where I decided to letter the titles of my very-favorites, ranging from the well-known to the obscure- a good representation of my holiday playlists! The square format was posted to Instagram, while the portrait format was adapted (with several more carols) to fit a greeting card envelope.
The colors of this sentiment convey the excitement and energy brought by a new year!
