Here are a few self-initiated projects that have allowed me to explore different concepts and media.
Drawing inspiration from creatively illustrated cocktail recipes, I lettered and illustrated this eggnog recipe, which is one of my favorites around the holiday season. The piece explores various ligatures and uses a warm color palette as comforting as the drink itself.
As a way to test out some new Procreate brushes and textures, I found this C.S. Lewis quote that really resonated. A large cup of tea over a thick tome is just my style!
Coffee yogurt is one of my favorite snacks. I just can’t get enough of its tangy creaminess, and I’m positive all of the local grocery stores keep it in stock just for me (and probably call me the “coffee yogurt lady” as I walk through the sliding doors.) This piece was lettered and illustrated in response to a challenge to letter my favorite snack. I think it will always be!
Recently, I’ve been exploring linocut printmaking and learning a lot about this historic art form. I find it an incredibly satisfying process; each stage- from conceptualizing the design, to carving it out, to inking the final piece- has its own unique delights. Here is one of my recent attempts. This design was used to create some prints and greeting cards for friends and family. It allows a small empty space I use to fill with a lettered sentiment.
